Difference between made-to-measure

  Made-to-measure Fin Finish
What is it?

A largely machine made garment with restrictions in the shape and fit

An entirely handmade garment created individually to your measurements and body shape.

How is it made?

It is measured by a salesman or fitter. Generally, basic measures relating to a stock size, i.e. 38” regular sleeves plus half an inch

Comprehensive measurements are taken by the cutter, taking into consideration all contours and frames. Individual paper Patterns are drafted for each client.

Style

You will be able to choose the jacket and trouser details, linings, working cuffs and so forth, but within the tailor’s limits. Typically, patterns are adjusted on a computer, with some checked cloths cut by hand. Suit components are generally passed through a factory line, as a bulk order would be treated.

There is no restriction on style. The pattern will be drafted by hand, cloths cut by hand, suit stitched and constructed by hand as well as well as finished and pressed by hand. Production will be overseen by the cutter from start to finish. Your paper patterns, drafted from you fittings can be used for future garments.
